Douglas served in the Navy after high school, from 1994 to 1998. Several years later, he returned to school to refocus his career ambitions to space exploration and development, where he received his degree in Engineering Technology (Space Systems) in December 2007. He currently works as a Systems Engineer with the Space Shuttle Program in Houston, manages a space-advocacy blog (http://thespaceadvocate.blogspot.com), and is the author of Turning Point: How Space Exploration and Development Will Determine the Rise or Fall of Humanity, available on www.lulu.com.
