Title: Soliciting Visio/Visual Studio programmers to participate in an HCI experiment
Company: Orchid Research Group, Department of Computer Science
Contact: Shamsi T. Iqbal <siqbal@xxxxxxxx>
Hiring for:
Description:
I am looking for 1-2 Visual Studio programmers and 1-2 Visio users to
participate in an HCI user study between June 4-June 9 . The study will
provide data that will be used to build user activity models for a
notification scheduling system that I am developing. The study is
divided into two parts, each requiring 1.5 - 2 hours commitment and each
part will provide $20 as compensation.

In the first part of the study, users will work on their own tasks in
Visual Studio/Visio. As users perform tasks, our system will collect log
data on certain aspects of user activities, including videos of onscreen
activities, window status (close, open, minimize etc), application level
events (finished compiling, added a a new item etc) mouse movement data
and certain hot key sequences. We will not collect any sensitive
information such as logins or passwords or key sequences. The data
collection will last for about 1.5 hours. Users can install our data
collection software on their own machines or we will provide machines
with the software installed.

For the second part, users will view the collected video of their own
activity and using our video annotation tool, will annotate moments
where they felt a transition in their activities occurred. This part
will require no more than 2 hours.

If you are interested to participate, please email me at siqbal@xxxxxxxx
for further details. I will also be happy to answer any questions
regarding the study.
