[SigBio] Re: SIGBio-l Digest, Vol 18, Issue 14

That guy looks interesting, sure.  I can talk about what I'm doin with Todd Coleman whenever too, it should make for an interesting talk.  We should also think about setting up some sort of bulletin of interesting talks on campus since its often hard to keep track of / get word of stuff happening.

1.  Elections

Elections were held for both Chair and Treasurer.  Due to her
innovative, dutiful, and overall outstanding performance last year,
and not at all due to the fact that she's the only active member who
has the proper training, Katie was unanimously re-elected Treasurer.

Cyrus chose to step down as Chair, feeling that one term was enough
for any man, Casey (myself) and Kim both ran for the position.  After
intense debate, and in order to prevent the elections form coming to
physical violence, a compromise was reached that both would serve as
Chair(s).

2.  Agenda

We decided that we would continue working on the Cellular Automata
project, with the hopes of implementing new features, expanding upon
the current capabilities, and possibly getting to the end goal of a
functional teaching aid with pre-set simulations and a much better UI.

Also, I'd personally like to see more people giving talks at meetings,
even if they remain mostly informal.  There are always interesting
talks related to biology and biocomputing going on at campus, such as
those mentioned earlier this week, as well as several good books and
sites on the subject.  If you come across something interesting, do
some research into it and come in to a meeting prepared to give a
brief explanation on it to the rest of the SIG.

If anyone has anything they'd like me to look into for someone to talk
about, or has any other questions about the SIG in general, please let
me know.

Anyone interested in inviting this guy to give a presentation on his research?
