I am thinking of using Apple for the CS241 course --- systems
programming etc. Talking to them, Apple is interested in presenting a
brief seminar of the Mac OS X for Unix/Linux Users on Thursday, March 3
from 1:30 – 2:30 in 3124. Do you want to come and see what opportunities
we might have for creating an innovative course etc. Also how we might
use Apple elsewhere as instructional equip.

Bring any students and TAs you might think appropriate.

Topics:

 - Overview of Mac OS X's architecture as an ideal platform for teaching
Unix/Linux to new or experienced users

 - Profiles of Universities that have moved Unix instruction to the Mac
platform and their results

- Discussion of open source software and how it relates to
Scientific Computing markets

If you would like to come, drop a line to deb israel disrael@xxxxxxxx
<mailto:disrael@xxxxxxxx> to let her know so she can get the right sized
room.
