Special Interest Group for
 Microcomputing

by Paul Watts

As of this week, SigMicro will be officially changing its name to SigPWCSUWGITSCF: The Special Interest Group for People Who Can't Say "Unix" Without Going Into Tourette's Syndrome-like Cursing Fits. Please update all your references.

SigMicro is progressing along smoothly with its main project for this semester, the Electronic Textbook Exchange. Most of the Web page planning is complete, and we have started to link the pages together with CGI scripts. Our database is yet to be worked on, so if you would like to learn the basics of database programming along with the rest of us, come along!

We have also agreed on the following workshops for this semester: a vi workshop, which will be coming very soon, and an Advanced Win32 workshop, tailored for Windows programmers who know 16-bit Windows and want to know the new and exciting things you can do with the Win32 API.

Have any ideas? Bring them to our meetings, every Thursday at 8:00pm in 1102 DCL. We welcome all newcomers, regardless of programming experience. We also welcome people with very funny impressions of Bjarne Stroustrup, but presentations may be preempted due to a shortage of Norwegian-to-English dictionaries.
