Introducing…

SIG Business

Chair: Mark Flider
Email: macwarriors@acm.uiuc.edu

Meeting Time: Saturday 3:00 PM
Place: 1225 DCL

Undergoing fervent negotiations regarding this year's EOH project, MacWarriors is forming a strong sense of spirit and community pride.

Actually, we're just, you know, sitting around and talking about cool stuff, as usual.

Anyway, Jay Tuley has been hot-potatoed the noble position of co-chair, so remember to hail to him as he passes. If anyone's still reading this, I'd just like to give a shout out to all the fine people living on Springfield Ave. But not that freaky guy who lives and sleeps in DCL... Yuck.

BTW, our EOH project will most likely involve some heavy OpenGL stuff as well as Mac OS X/Cocoa programming. Other than that, it's in the air. :)

Meeting Time: Monday 7:30 PM
Place: 1310 DCL

Do you understand the business plan behind your technical project? Do you have a technical background and lack the business spirit? SIGBiz is a new organization founded by Amish Shah along with his partner Glenn Barney. Through the parent organization support of ACM, SIGBiz hopes to encourage its members to build their leadership skills, managerial duties, and "out of the box" outlook on technology.

SIGBiz hopes to form strategic alliances with other, more established student organizations that help its members gain the business skills that are essential in today's market. We will also promote the unique technical skills demonstrated by the many talented computer programmers at the University of Illinois. Our objective: complete integration of these business and technology skills.

What we hope to offer our members:

Partner with student business organizations
Entrepreneurship Interests
Intern / Co-op Panel
The CS Interview Workshop
Other workshops

SIGBiz will be kicking off its first meeting entitled Intern/Co-Op panel on October 29, 7:00 PM in 1310 DCL. This event is being sponsored by ACM as well as our partner: SBME (Society of Business Management Engineers). We recently established a partnership with SBME where we would help with their technical needs and in return, they would help sponsor our events.  SIGBiz is currently in the process of negotiations with another organization by the name of iSEEDS to establish a partnership.  Another activity we will be participating in is a Business Intellegence conference that will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on October 30 in Chicago.  Now is a great time to join SIGBiz.  All are welcome to attend!
