BUG -- Be Users Group
Focus: Using the
Be Operating System
Most Recent Chair(s): Ryan Ott (acmbug@uiuc.edu)

WinDevils focuses on industry-standard products, namely MS technologies, such as .NET. Our first meeting will be on Saturday, September 7th. Possible topics for this meeting include an introductory .NET presentation and an introduction to using Visual Studio .NET for MPs.  Presentations by MS professionals should be expected throughout the year. Our close ties with Microsoft make for great ways to help you get a job or summer internship, as well as learning about some of the latest and greatest the industry has to offer.

Some of our recent projects have included the WinDrunk 3D simulator. This year we expect to either be working on a high-capacity website portal, or a project funded by Ford Motor Corporation integrating speech recognition and touch screen interface. No experience is necessary - just come and learn.

Focus: Eclectic Learning for
Short Attention-Spans.

SIGMobile is ACM's mobile technologies group. We have had several successful Engineering Open House projects in the past, but this year could be the best yet. There will probably be a few smaller projects during the year, but our biggest one will track anyone who has a wirelessly enabled PDA, without them even knowing. We know a position can be triangulated based on signal strength, but it has never been done like this before. This is going to be a fun project to work on, and we always
welcome new members, so come to our meeting this Saturday at 12:00 in 1225 DCL. Anyone can join, and no experience is necessary.

We will also be working on smaller projects during the coming months, so if you are interested in other areas of mobile computing, don't hesitate to come to a meeting.
