Welcome to ACM!
By Don Schmidt

had some growing pains through the years, but we've matured into what I believe to be one of the best places for people with a passion for computing to gather, share ideas and create great things.  Every year the things we do and the ideas we develop get bigger and more exciting, and it looks like this year will be no exception.  I hope you'll join us.
In closing, don't be timid!  Come to the SIG meetings, drop by our office (1225 DCL,) say "Hi", and just hang out.  We'd love to get to know you, but we can't do that if we never see your face.  We don't bite, really.
     See you around DCL!

Welcome to ACM! Whether you're a new or returning member, I hope you'll find something interesting in tonight's Open House Presentations.  From human interaction to computer architecture, graphics to robotics, networking to game design, we've got something interesting for you.
As one of the largest and most active student computing organizations in the world, there will be more than enough happening this year to keep you
very, very busy.   Every last Thursday of the month we host a speaker at our general meeting, and there's always a company stopping by to showcase their latest technology and recruit fresh talent.   Movie nights, assassins games, bar crawls, ice skating, picnics and paintball are a great way to relax after a long coding session, and there's always someone in the office willing to engage in conversation or argument.
If you really want to become involved in ACM though, our Special Interest Groups--SIGs--are where it's at.  SIGs hold meetings, tutorials and workshops throughout the year and also design projects for the University's "Engineering Open House", every spring.  Projects are a wonderful way
to work in a team and get some real-world experience.

This chapter of ACM had a modest beginning way back in the 60's, almost 40 years ago. We've
