MacWarriors is a Special Interest Group of ACM@UIUC and a Macintosh User Group for those who use and develop for the Macintosh and related
technologies. MacWarriors offers tutorial workshops, engaging projects, and a community for Apple enthusiasts of all levels to enjoy. It meets every Saturday at 3:00 PM in the ACM office ( 1225 Digital Computer Lab )--all are welcome and meetings are very informal. See past projects, events, and other info at our website.

With the recent spin-off of LUG, SIGUnix is now better able to return to projects. Work has already begun on our primary project for SIGUnix, Project MMDB: A Main Memory Database (working title). Come to our meeting, September 8, for details.
Skills that this project will emphasize include C++ programming, data structures, use of Unix/GNU tools and APIs, parser construction, and
database design.

SIGWin, formerly known as WinDevils, is a special interest group based on Windows application development, specifically, things like .NET, C#, DirectX, etc. Members will work with the latest Microsoft technologies including Visual Studio .NET and Microsoft SDKs. Presentations by Microsoft professionals should be expected throughout the year. Our close ties with Microsoft make for great ways to help you get a job or summer internship, as well as learning about some of the latest and greatest the industry has to offer. Our recent projects have included the WinDrunk 3D simulator and a Speech enabled music player. Take a look at some of our past projects on our website (given above).
Our first meeting will be held on Saturday, September 13 in 1310 DCL at 3:00pm. We will hold weekly meetings on Saturdays as listed above. Anyone is welcome to join, and no experience is necessary.

The ACM Linux User's Group is restarting this year, with a specific focus--linux outreach.  Our meetings are going to be primarily planning sessions for install fests and workshops/tutorials.  If you are interested in helping us select an installfest distribution, customize it to our needs, write documentation, and more, come to a LUG meeting!  Those new to linux should wait for our first large-scale session.
