SigGraph

by Ryan Grant

SigGraph is the Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics. This semester, we have many avenues open for exploration. A radiosity program was installed on Sleepless (the RS/6000), both for rendering cool scenes and for gaining experience with radiosity in general. Sleepless is also open for other projects, and, if interest allows, some programming and general instruction on using GL to do graphics programming can also be arranged.

For Engineering Open House, SigGraph plans to have some animation running, as well as a possible demonstration of the current state of the DataRace game, a networked cyberspace game which allows the user to traverse a virtual network. Coding has finally begun, and if all goes well, we should have a single-player version, implementing the barest essentials of the game, running on a PC over by our EOH table.

Meetings are Tuesday nights at 7pm, in 1102 DCL. Watch the uiuc.acm newsgroup for details, or send email to siggraph@uiuc.edu. Please stop by; anyone is welcome.
