SigSoft is the Special Interest Group for Software Development. We develop computer games and utilities for the Macintosh, IBM world, and Unix platforms using primarily the C and C++ programming languages. This semester, SigSoft is moving the weekly meetings to Wednesdays, 6pm, 1102 DCL. New members are always welcome to join a project, seek help with an outside project, or just listen in on meetings.

Here is a quick list of current projects:

Arena is a networked, auto battle game for the Macintosh, programmed with Think C. Project leader is Chuck Remes (cremes@cs.uiuc.edu).

The Oscope program will replace oscilloscopes for Physics 107 students to analyze RC, RL, and RLC circuits using IBM 386 machines. Most help is currently needed with the online help. Project leader is Andrew Dalke (dalke@uiuc.edu).

Chris Trimble (chris1@uiuc.edu) heads the Morpher project. The morpher will eventually morph two existing movies into a third according to the user's specifications. The specifications will be defined by drawing lines in key frames in the animation sequence. The program is being written in C++ for the X Window System.

Jay Kreibich (jak@uiuc.edu) has created a Macintosh Biff program that alerts users when their Unix login(s) receive e-mail. The project is completed and is available on common Mac ftp sites, but anyone interested in writing a client for another platform is more than welcome to contact Jay.

Other projects for which we are seeking programmers include SigMicro's telescope controller and SigNet's DNS project.
