SigBio Creating Online Anatomy Book
by Joey Lasky
The semester has been going very well for SigBio. Our current project involves compiling many pictures, links, and other Web stuff which we are then putting into the SigBio homepage. Among other things included there, we hope to make a sort of Web Anatomy Book with interactive body parts and the like. Thus far, we have compiled dozens of pictures and have made a rough skeleton of the Book. Anyone with HTML or CGI programming experience would be a welcome addition to our meetings as well as anyone else interested in biology and computers. Future projects might include making an arcade game that takes place within a body, and modeling biological systems using C. One of the exciting things we have done was to see a demonstration of 3D macromolecular modeling over at the Beckman Institute where virtual wands could be used to control the rotation. We hold meetings every Tuesday at 7 pm in 1225 DCL (ACM office). Hope to see you there!!! If there are any questions or comments, direct them to the two chairs, Arwin Levinson or Joey Lasky, at the following addresses: alevinso@uiuc.edu or jlasky@uiuc.edu
