SigGraph

by Ryan Grant

SigGraph (the Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics) is for people who like computer graphics. We create and program animations, raytracing, fractals, particle systems, and more.

If SigGraph members can meet their deadlines and our rendering proceeds fast enough, you should be able to see a short animation at SigGraph's EOH display table. This animation will center on ACM's main EOH project, the computer-operated telescope. If we finish it in time, the animation will represent massive last-minute coordination efforts, and lots of CPU time.

There will be no NetSpace this year, unfortunately. Yes, this was the group that brought you the computer game NetSpace in the past, but we're working on new stuff. The name DataRace appears to have stuck for our 3-D networked cyberpunk game. DataRace is a new game about about virtual networking. Players see the world from a first-person perspective, but the world is just a complicated network of objects, and you have to survive in it. You can have your chance to play DataRace at our EOH table, in the Atrium of DCL.

SigGraph meetings have recently changed from Tuesdays to Fridays. Meetings are currently held every Friday at 4:30pm in 1102 DCL. Watch the uiuc.acm newsgroup for details, or mail me at siggraph@uiuc.edu if you would like more info on anything. Also, be on the look-out for a new SigGraph logo, coming soon!
