
Mark Andersen
Principal Software Engineer, Walt Disney Imagineering
Mark Andersen received a BSEE from the University of Illinois College of
Engineering in December, 1986. He started his career with the Walt
Disney Company as a co-op during summer of 1986. His first position
within Walt Disney World was with their Sustaining Engineering
department, providing electrical/electronics engineering support to
attractions maintenance.
In 1987, Mark began working for Disney's Scientific Systems, a division
of Walt Disney Imagineering. Mark works with a team of highly talented
software engineers who design, develop and maintain the control systems
that run Disney rides, shows and multitudes of other non-business
software applications. Mark is currently a Principal Software Engineer
and is responsible for the entire life cycle of attractions including
show control system design, development and maintenance.
Mark has designed and/or developed show control applications for attractions that
have been installed in Disney parks in Tokyo, California, Florida and
Paris, with his primary focus on Florida attractions. He has been a
part of the opening teams for Disney MGM Studios and Disney's Animal
Kingdom Theme Parks. An abbreviated list of attractions which contain
systems developed by Mark include: Mission: Space, Mickey's
PhilHarmagic, Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, The Many
Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dinosaur, MuppetVision 3D, The American
Adventure, Tokyo Disneyland's Pooh's Hunny Hunt, The Twilight Zone Tower of
Terror and the Walt Disney World Monorail System. His current projects
include Magic Kingdom's Stitch's Great Escape and Animal Kingdom's Expedition
Everest.
