Meeting Notes for 10/11/2005
- Tack ran through the basic elements of the project
- We discussed the publish-subscribe connectivity method, and decided (perhaps a second time)
- No central server; individual networks
- We want redundancy; a server (publisher) goes down, another client (subscriber) picks up the connection.
- We discussed what should happen when a writer above you makes a new line:
- Your screen shouldn't change unless they're writing in it?
- The document and your cursor scroll with new lines?
- We went to the ACM lab and ran SubEthaEdit? (SEE) between two computers, taking note of the effects of collaborative text editing. Additional notes below.
Next Meeting - Our first dev session will hopefully be Saturday 10/22 at 2p. At the next meeting, we need to plan our first iteration. This will include organizing and separating the functions of the editor into discrete programming problems. We will also demonstrate SubEthaEdit? for those that couldn't make it tonight.
