Meeting Notes for 10/04/2005
- We reviewed the general interface idea from last time:
- New idea: content locking by paragraph, by line, The idea being to protect a neighborhood around your cursor (by some measurement)
- New idea: Marking editing locations in the scroll bar on the right.
- Tack argued nobly (a final time) for an emphasis on standalone architecture.
- We began separating the zones of presentation vs. distribution: Presentation => GUI features, widely discussed; Distribution = > IM chatting, voice chatting, text sharing
- We talked about how we want to treat the server-client or P2P structure of dynamic sharing; We decided that a publish-subscribe method would be best.
- We also want recoverability; if the server dies, the peers should recover and construct a new server at one of the nodes.
- We dwelled on latency issues; we will have to deal with these things later.
