A '''Laser Scanner''' is a hardware device for rapidly moving a laser beam in order to trace out a figure to be projected onto a screen. There are a number of different ways to build a laser scanner, we'll cover the two that concern the !LaserLine project.

== Speakers ==
We used this type of scanner for !LaserLine 1.0. It works by varying the current (audio volume) in two speakers to move small mirrors along the x and y axis. Generally the quality of the scanning produced by this scanner is not that great.

== Galvanometer ==
This is the design to be used in !LaserLine 2.0.
