VWRev
This is the management site for the VWRev project, in development by the SIGSoft development team.
Project Description
This project would transform the video wall into a board where faculty and students can display whatever they wanted. Students and faculty would submit their work to a website, designed similar to a wiki. They could submit pictures, artwork, poems, jokes, etc. to display. These submissions would be logged by netID and approved by an administrator. During the day the submissions would displayed on the board. In addition to their work other computer science related information would be displayed, including but not limited to: engineering announcements, riddles, famous quotes, mathematical proofs, biographies on famous computer scientists or mathematicians, and surveys. Some items, such as announcements, would be displayed at all times whereas other items would cycle through. Additionally, the cycling items could include pictures of the Engineering Open House, a poem a student wrote, and a faculty member’s art work. After some predetermined length of time the temporary items would change to other items such as the history of Siebel, a student made comic strip, and some computer science facts. One additional idea is to take single question surveys or quizzes on the information panels and display them on the video wall.
Project Goals
The goal of this project is to allow the individual to connect with students and faculty in a feasible manner. This would provide an easy way for students and faculty to share and display their work to the entire department.
Who Benefits
The entire department benefits from this project. First, those submitting their work would have an easy way to inform the entire department of what they are working on. Second, all the viewers will be able to see what everyone else is working on, helping them discover and learn about projects that interest them. Also, because of the extra items like the riddles, it will entertain everyone who views it.
