The Special Interest Group for Computer Architecture
SigArch is dedicated to the study of computer architecture at the University of Illinois. To this end, we develop projects, hold discussions, and occasionally host tutorials on various aspects of electrical and computer engineering. We used to be defunct, but now we're back up with meetings on Thursdays at 6pm in the ACM Office. We're always looking for more members to come in and help us with projects. EOH 2004 Project Spotlight: Star Trek Pinball
We recently won the Lockmiller Award for AI and Robotics at Engineering Open House 2004 for our self-playing pinball machine. A camera suspended above the playfield is connected to a Linux PC inside the machine. This computer tracks the motion of the pinball and determines when to flip the flippers. Check out the project page for more information: EOH 2004 Project Spotlight: CNC Router
Our EOH Project in 2003 was a computer-controlled router which we eventually want to use to make circuit boards. The mill was awarded Third Place in its judging category that year, and we are continuing to improve it. Check out the project page for information, software, and links. SigArch Primer Do you want to get involved in SigArch but don't feel like you've taken enough classes to participate? Check out the SigArch Primer, a repository of links and documents that will teach you what you need to know. Mailing List You might find some interesting stuff on our Mailng list Archive |
