The Network Interface Unit's purpose is to provide a link between
CamBot and a TCP/IP-based ("Internet") network. The primary data flow direction
within the NIU is from the PEGBoard interface to the network media. Data must,
however, also be transferred back and forth between the System Control Unit and
the network media. The NIU will use Ethernet (including 10Base-T and the IEEE
802.3 Attachment Unit Interface (AUI)) as its primary media type. The NIU need
not implement the full TCP/IP protocol suite, as functions such as RARP and
TCP are not required for the NIU to fulfill its purpose. The NIU should also
be designed to be easily incorporated into devices besides CamBot.

- Thru-Put:
- Adequate thru-put for MPEG stream (10Mbit/s)
- PEG buffer should not have to wait for data
- RAM1 should be arbitrated so that it does not interfere with PegBoard
- Compatibility:
- Maintain ISA compatibility
- Realistic (transparent) TCP/IP
