MCU (Media Capture Unit)

- Digitize Video and Audio Signals
- Interface with any remaining electronics (such as zoom/autofocus) in 
  camera
- Buffer digitized data and possibly convert video to YCbCr format (as  
  opposed to RGB)
  (this is because the JPEG and MPEG algorithms require video of this 
  format)

PEGBoard (MPEG Compression or JPEG frame compresion board)

- Compress video or audio/visual data for transmission across network

NIU (Network Interface Unit)

- Interface with Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 media 
- Packetize outgoing Multimedia Data
- Perform ARP, RARP, IPMC, IPGM, IP, UDP protocol handling
- Accomodate Multicast (MBONE) protocols?
- Direct inbound control traffic to System Control Unit

SCU (System Control Unit)

- Initialize all other units
- Interface with user via control panel/lcd display?
- Interface with user via network
- Regulate data flow/interaction between other units
