September 4, 2008Welcome
to a new year of SigBio. We will be doing a lot of awesome and
educational things this semester. (I don't know this spacing is so
large. I will figure that out later.) Anyway, check out the links
to the left. Join our mailing list. Come to SigBio meetings at 7pm
Tuesday in the ACM Office. We want all ages, genders, majors, heights,
interests, etc.__________________________________________________________

Meeting notes will be on the wiki:
SIGBio Wiki. You need to be an ACM member to edit unfortunately. Maybe
we can find a better solution if we end up needing it but for now that should
be fine.

Welcome to a new semester of SIGBio. We are just getting started with some new
topics and project ideas. Join our mailing list so you can keep informed! For
now, we will be reading some basic papers together on computational brain stuff
and having some talks. We're still figuring out a meeting time, join the
mailing list and participate if ya want a say.
October 20, 2005
Come see Jonathan Mills speak about his
Extended Analog Computer! Today: 4:30pm, in 2405 Siebel. Some edible
substances will be served.
September 6, 2005
Thanks to everyone who visited the SIGBio table at ACM open house tonight.
Here's the deal for this year:
-
Weissman is in Germany for the year. His positronic brain will be missed.
-
Without Weissman, the fate of the EEG project is uncertain. There were a few
electrical engineers who expressed interest in working on the EEG project
tonight. If at least one of them joins, work can continute.
-
We're also going to start a new project, which doesn't depend on the arcane
knowledge of the Circuit-Makers. Take a look at
Breve. We'll be using it to make creature simulations. Eventually
we'll hold a creature design contest.
-
John Hart confirmed that he can give a presentation on the
hexapod robot. Unfortunately, the oversized cockroach has been in
storage for a while, and may not work. We may have to be satisfied of videos
from it's youth.
-
Kevin Warwick
is still uncertain whether he'll be doing research at UIUC or not. If he gets
his grant money, he'll do a presentation for us in April.
-
Meeting time has moved to Monday at 7pm, at least for next week. There we can
decide what time is best for the group.
April 1, 2005
Our first project is a
computer controlled EEG machine.
Work begins.

A new SIGBio, a new webpage.
