Hardware

The hardware side of the QuuxBox is based around the Mini-ITX ultra tiny form factor introduced by VIA Technologies.. More information about mini itx can be found on mini-itx.com.

Motherboard

We will be using the ultra-tiny EPIA-M Mini-ITX Form Factor motherboard from VIA Technologies. This package puts nearly everything we need, including sound and mpeg decoding on one tiny board. Wrapped up with an included 933MHz Via C3 processor, we have a flexible basis for our system.

Case

We had been planning to use the Cubid 2688-R Case from Morex due to its small size, quite external power supply, and front USB ports, but we've recently learned that the new EPIA-M motherboard doesn't fit. So, either we will wait for the upcoming 2699 series or look at something else such as a Chayang Fun E-Note or MiniCube case. Of course, someone could always get ambitious and build a case for this project...

Accessories

To add a TV and video capture support we will be including some sort of ATI All-In-Wonder TV/Video board. Also, the system will include a standard Slimline (Laptop) DVD drive, HD and DDR RAM.
