Publicizing Your Site
Once you've finished your pages there are several ways to get more people to view them.
You can submit them to search engines and directories. These are a few pages that will submit your page to several engines and sites:
- Submit-It - http://www.submit-it.com/
- Position It - http://www.position-it.com/
- Web Promote - http://www.webpromote.com/
When submitting pages to search engines, it's often a good idea to add <META> tags to your page:
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="(insert site summary here)"> <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="(insert related keywords here)">
So a site about cats would have something like this at the beginning of it's main page:
<HTML> <HEAD><TITLE>All About Cats Page</TITLE><HEAD> <META NAME="description" CONTENT="The All About Cats Page has information about kittens and cats, of all sizes and colors, including what to feed a cat and basic veterinary facts."> <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="cats, kittens, kitty litter, catnip">
You can join a banner program. You'll need to create a banner to exchange and include a banner on your page but it's a good way to advertise:

- Link Buddies - http://www.linkbuddies.com/
- Link Exchange - http://www.linkexchange.com/
You can join a web ring. Like banner programs you'll have to add a graphic to your page but it is a way of linking your page with ones similar to it:
