Programming Win32
A Workshop/Tutorial brought to you by the
WinDevils, a tiny division
of SigMicro
Welcome to the main information resources for the WinDevils Programming Win32
Workshop series. From this page you can access a variety of things, including the full
text of the workbook chapters which are distributed at our meetings, full source code
for sample applications, screen shots of sample applications, and a listing of
upcoming topics to be covered.
What's New
WinDevils is proud to have sponsored Dave Mendlen's presentation on Visual Basic for Applications, OLE Automation, and Internet technology à la Microsoft. If you want to contact him, email DavidM@msn.com.
Our previously scheduled workshop for April 6th is cancelled. Paul and I have had some rough schedules this past week and have not had time to prepare content.
The first workshop was held on Saturday, Feb. 2 in 1320 DCL from 2:00 - 5:00 and covered a variety of basic Windows programming topics. Although we were unable to establish a link between our PC and the projection system, we hope to rectify this problem in future workshops.
We would like to re-emphasize that this series is aimed towards teaching people Windows programming skills which will be useful for personal endeavours, but we are also interested in teaching useful skills that you can apply in the field. If you have any suggestions about topics you would like to see covered, please send them to us.
Information Resources
Information for these workshops is organized below based on it's related chapter in the Programming Windows 95 workbook.
You can also download the entire workbook in Winword format. (ZIP; 69K)
Don't have Microsoft Word? You can still view these using the Microsoft Word Viewer.
In The Pipeline...
Getting Older and Wiser...
WinDevils is a young group, but we're getting older and we're getting more momentum as we go. We're now much closer to getting a
development system for public use -- we're partnering with industry leaders to get you a variety of tools to play with. More to come on
that very soon, we hope.
That's IT? You Just Started...
Well, the semester is quickly coming to a close, and all though we have a few more events planned, there's not much left to do. For those
of you who might be wondering what happens now, we'll tell you what we have in mind. First of all, we realize that you probably couldn't
go out and get a great job paying zillions of dollars a year for Windows programming with the information we've given you -- but that's
not really the goal. If you become a master programmer solely because of Paul and Paul, we'll be truly impressed and proud. However,
we hope we're giving you a good enough overview and some good pointers on how to get started -- that's often the hardest step.
Coming Soon -- More and Better Content
After Paul N. has made the summer pilgrimage back to that palacial outcropping of cool glass buildings we call the Microsoft corporate
campus, we predict that he'll find himself having significantly more time to develop WinDevils content than currently. These means that
we'll have lots of new topics to work with, as well as revisions of the material we used this year. We're hoping to make WinDevils
workshops a weekly thing, but that might grow tiring. We'll see.
